When Suicide becomes Resistance Mike Whitney...For the victims, the only way to preserve their tattered dignity, was to take their own lives; a choice that demonstrates the depth of their hopelessness. Their deaths should be seen for what they are; a final act of resistance against a manifestly cruel and unjust system (...) Guantanamo is the face of America under Bush. It has changed how we are perceived in the world and it has eroded our moral authority. We should be grateful to the 3 men who sacrificed their lives in the struggle against barbarity and cynicism. They have nudged us ever-closer to the day when Bush and company will be held accountable for their crimes. Maybe then we can tear down the gun-towers and block walls at Guantanamo and erect a monument to the countless victims of this vile and vicious regime...

Statement of the Islamic- National Congress On U.S. Plans Targeting Iraqi City of Ramadi
Information coming from Iraq indicate the United States is planning and preparing to launch a criminal military assault against the Iraqi people in Anbar Province, targeting particularly the City of Ramadi. For this aim the U.S. transported about 1500 of its troops stationed in Kuwait, to join a thousand of them who had been moved to the same area before. The U.S. had already starfed, in constant strikes, homes located close to its military bases in the area. It also isolated the residential quarters of the city by large cement blocks. All suggest the U.S. is about to launch an operation on the same scale it did in many Iraqi cities and districts, such as Fallujah, Karbala, Haditha, Samarra and Ishaqi. It looks like this new operation will be more destructive. News of these preparations put all concerned face to face with their responsibility to do their atmost to prevent these perpetual crimes committed by the U.S. troops collaborated with by the Iraqi government which is in fact installed by the occupier. The whole world has seen pictures of those crimes; it is not anymore secret to anyone...

BBC again actively aiding and abetting in war crimes and crimes against humanity Gabriele Zamparini...This is the third time I write you about the same propaganda piece you shamelessly published in the BBC’s website. You have added now the following parts: 'Warfare'. Rear Adm Harris said he did not believe the men had killed themselves out of despair. "They are smart. They are creative, they are committed," he said, quoted by Reuters. "They have no regard for life, either ours or their own. I believe this was not an act of desperation, but an act of asymmetrical warfare waged against us." and: A spokesman for UK Prime Minister Tony Blair described the suicide as a "sad incident". You allow the war criminals and the mass murders to state "act of asymmetrical warfare waged against us" and "sad incident" but keep ignoring the United Nations’ investigation and call to close the concentration camp and all the international law issue. By doing that, together with the BBC you, Dear Mr. Steve Herrmann, in quality of Editor, News Online, are actively aiding and abetting in war crimes and crimes against humanity. You are in the same legal and moral position of those who justify the Nazi’s crimes during WWII and for this reason you should sit in the dock together with your masters...

al-somebody or other William Bowles, I'n'IWell folks, the 'new' leader of 'al-Qu'eda in Iraq' has been named (already). Can't remember it offhand, not that it matters, it's al-somebody or other. I've posted a page of newslinks on his 'death' if you can be bothered to read through the endless drivel that's been generated. In the UK it's safe to say that the World Cup has blotted out most everything else of import, so short of Parliament being blown up (can I say this without being accused of 'glorifying terrorism'?), the world and its ways will continue without the British public being in the slightest bit concerned. Talk about 'bread and circuses'! What is really amazing about the 'death of Zarqawi' is how the MSM have run with it. Is it really credible for anyone in their right mind to think that the death of one man can alter the situation in Iraq? Who is trying to convince whom here?...

American Lawyer Criticizes Saddam Court APAn American lawyer on Saddam Hussein's defense team lashed out at the court Monday, saying it was not giving defenders enough time and was intimidating witnesses. Curtis Doebbler chided the chief judge for not responding to a series of defense motions, including ones challenging the court's legitimacy and seeking documents. He asked for a break in the proceedings until those issues were resolved. "We are at a serious disadvantage to the prosecution because of the way we have been treated by the court," Doebbler told chief judge Raouf Abdel-Rahman. "We want to work for justice. But that must start by having a fair trial. "But under the current circumstances, that doesn't seem possible. We ask that the trial be stopped to allow us adequate time to prepare our defense." (...) "Our witnesses have been intimidated by the court and have been assaulted," Doebbler said. "Several lawyers were assaulted as well." Four defense witnesses were arrested two weeks ago after presenting their testimony, and the defense said some of them were beaten by Iraqi police as U.S. soldiers watched...

More Holes in the Official Story on Zarqawi's Death Michel Chossudovsky, GlobalResearch.caAbu Musab Al Zarqawi's "safe house" was attacked by two Falcon F16 fighters. Two 500 lb laser-guided bombs were dropped on the site. The safe house was transformed into rubble. According to press reports, charred bodies had been removed from the rubble. Zarqawi's body, however, was virtually intact. The bombs used in the attack are known for their destructive capabilities. The first bomb was a 500 lb. GBU-12 , guided to its target by a laser designator, with a "circular error probable" of 8 meters. The second bomb was newer far more sophisticated precision weapon: the GBU-38 (Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM), guided to its target by satellite signal. (AP, 8 June 2006) (...) Among the victims, according to the first official report, were two women and a child...

Organized Inhumanity: Haditha & the U.S. Military Machine Muhammed AsadiThe cause for the Haditha massacre of civilians by U.S. Marines on November 19, 2005 (one incident out of many that have occurred in Iraq) lies in the social psychology of the members of the US military machine, and the way they have been trained and re-socialized to conduct international warfare. It is not a lack of training but rather their training itself that caused the incident. In World War 2, deliberate targeting of non-combatant civilians was perfected by the U.S and its European Allies, and the US military has honored and respected that (barbaric) tradition in every war it has conducted since then. These incidents cannot be isolated by geographic location, or particular conflict, hence for causation we must look inside the structure of the military institution itself...

U.S.-Led Forces in Iraq Kill 9 in Raid WJLA, DCU.S. led forces raided a house near a volatile city northeast of Baghdad on Monday, killing nine people, including two children, the military said (...) Local residents accused the Americans of targeting civilians, and a man wearing a white dishdasha held up the charred body of a toddler whose head had been blown in half. The Iraqis screamed "Allahu akbar" or "God is Great" as they loaded two wooden coffins onto pickup trucks. AP Television News footage also showed the burned-out shells of vehicles and a devastated house with a large hole in the roof...

Mass Murder Has Cost Us More Than They Promised Robert Higgs...Okay, boys and girls, here's where we stand. We got our mass murder, and each day we get some more of it. So far, so good. But we sure as hell didn't get it cheaply. It seems that after the invasion, U.S. authorities changed the plan, having decided that the Iraqis should pay in blood, instead of oil. The price of gasoline is now nearly twice what it was before the war; the Iraqi oil industry, already a shambles, continues to serve as an attractive target for saboteurs and looters, and the future does not look bright for bringing the industry up to snuff faster than the insurgents blow it apart. Well, win some, lose some, children. At least, the American invaders and, vicariously, all their aficionados on the home front have had the pleasure of killing and maiming tens of thousands of wholly innocent men, women, and children. That's something...

Desperate Bush administration ends already blown Zarqawi deception Larry Chin, Online Journal Associate Editor...The Zarqawi "crescendo" signals what is likely the beginning of a final chapter in the Bush administration’s "war on terror" fiction, as the administration itself faces its own fall. In an attempt to save face, the mentally ill Bush and his criminals know they must act now to create the illusion of victory, even as their violent, criminal acts have left the New World Order, and the entire world, in flames. Could a spectacular pursuit and execution of "Osama bin Laden" be far behind?...

Al-Zarqawi, international man of mystery Matt McCollow, Online Journal Contributing Writer...The more informed person however, might ask: How many times can you kill a dead man? The answer to both questions could be: As long as people will believe it. With an Emmanuel Goldstein type figure of myth and mystery, like Zarqawi, it’s easy to control people’s opinion. When the people start questioning the reasons for being in Iraq (or focusing on a damaging political scandal), out comes a new tape. When the people complain of ineffectiveness in Iraq and nothing to show for the losses incurred by our men and women in uniform, kill the bad guy and everyone’s happier...

GI Special 4F10: "Let The Tatoos Sail" - June 12, 2006 Thomas F. BartonHow does the body art on a soldier define professionalism? It doesn’t. It is a way for people to express themselves.
Let me define unprofessional.
The way noncommissioned officers treat soldiers: yelling, cursing, degrading soldiers because they know soldiers can’t say anything back and know that if they do, they will face repercussions even though Army regs say there can’t be any.

Who invited Zarqawi?? Roads to Iraq...Zarqawi was everywhere, in Baghdad, Dyalla, Fallujha, Ramadi, Mosul…etc, yet former Iraq’s defense minister said: al-Zarqawi was pretty close to being captured in Fallujah….[the Americans] delayed the operation 10 days. Surprisingly that every Iraqi city destroyed, every Iraqi child murdered by American bullets, tens of thousands of detainees without trial in Buca and Abu Ghraib and other secret prisons, all were carried out to search for a ghost created by John Negroponte. Are we expecting a second version, American made, "fine-tuned" Zarqawi? I bet yes...

Fear of Big Battle Panics Iraqi City Megan K. Stack and Louise Roug, Times Staff WritersFears of an imminent offensive by the U.S. troops massed around the insurgent stronghold of Ramadi intensified Saturday, with residents pouring out of the city to escape what they describe as a mounting humanitarian crisis. The image pieced together from interviews with tribal leaders and fleeing families in recent weeks is one of a desperate population of 400,000 people trapped in the crossfire between insurgents and U.S. forces. Food and medical supplies are running low, prices for gas have soared because of shortages and municipal services have ground to a stop. U.S. and Iraqi forces had cordoned off the city by Saturday, residents and Iraqi officials said...

My Lai: Charlie Company
Same Old Same Old
Because when you come right down to it, the wrong people are on trial for atrocities.
Nixon, Westmoreland, Abrams and Mendal Rivers, the very bullshitters who are most eager to see Charlie Co. brought to justice, are finally the men most responsible for My Lai. They were the ones telling us that Ky and Thieu’s corrupt government is worth dying for. They are the ones who taught us to kill, who put us over here in this mind-fucking shit hole and told us to go to it. In short, they started the war and they know you never have a war without atrocities.
