Resisting the occupier
April 18, 2010 - Let me be clear from the beginning, I am fond of Taliban, fond of the Palestinian Resistance and it has nothing to do with being a Ba'athist or not, this Resistance is just brave. I mean the Palestinians have been resisting for more than 70 years, and the Afghans...their country has been occupied three times, and for three times they fought the occupier fiercely. I am not going to talk about the Iraqi Resistance because it is still a new Resistance and there are allot of mistakes in the way they organize themselves plus the bigger mistake is that it is one sided only...it is a Sunni Resistance when the right thing should be is an IRAQI Resistance. In my opinion Resistance of the occupier is not just an act of rage or war or fighting, before being any of that it is an act of human nature, it is an instinct that passes through a number of phases...

Let me be clear from the beginning, I am fond of Taliban, fond of the Palestinian Resistance and it has nothing to do with being a Ba'athist or not, this Resistance is just brave. I mean the Palestinians have been resisting for more than 70 years, and the Afghans...their country has been occupied three times, and for three times they fought the occupier fiercely.
I am not going to talk about the Iraqi Resistance because it is still a new Resistance and there are allot of mistakes in the way they organize themselves plus the bigger mistake is that it is one sided only...it is a Sunni Resistance when the right thing should be is an IRAQI Resistance.
In my opinion Resistance of the occupier is not just an act of rage or war or fighting, before being any of that it is an act of human nature, it is an instinct that passes through a number of phases-
1- It is born as a form of a natural instinct. (the normal reaction when a normal citizen refuses his country to be occupied and he/she decides to do something about it.)
2- It becomes a culture. (In the case of the Palestinians and the Afghans...children are taught that when they grow up they will carry a gun and kill the enemy. it can even come as a normal conversation of their daily life with the family. it is just like saying "Son...one day you have to get married.")
3- It becomes an education. (Apart from the family brain feeding, there is this peer pressure and then there is this enrolment in the group where they are literally taught how to resist, they are educated on Resistance, recruiting the youth and this is mostly common in the Afghans.)
4- Finally it becomes a habit. (In the case of the Afghans...it is a HABIT!!! some of them enjoy it, its like going for hunting, it becomes a habit to them to carry a gun and search for the best opportunity to hunt down a soldier, or much better....bring him alive, because bringing him alive is a proof of his virility, of his bravery, of his guts to his Resistance group and tribe.)
5- And finlay to some people...it becomes a career. (it becomes a career because he does not know what else to do, since the age of 12 he is trained to use an AK47, to the Afghans it is something normal, they opened their eyes on Resistance, they opened their eyes on an occupied country that happens to be their land, to them it is just like going to work every day.)
In my opinion, the Iraqi Sunni Resistance is still in phase one. Although phase one has a more philosophical understanding to it. Phase one resembles Conscience. Conscience is a natural human instinct that is triggered by the sense of belonging in the case of Resistance, it is the refusal that the place you belong to be destroyed by aliens, it is the Conscience that pushes you toward physical action hunting the enemy down by any means necessary.
Resistance is not just physical action, nations that have been occupied for so long...Resistance to them is a way of life...a discipline too.
