al-Islam reported that a short while earlier an Iraqi Resistance bomb
had exploded by a US tank west of the city of al-Hadithah in wesetern
Iraq.
The al-Hadithah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported
eyewitnesses as saying that the blast disabled the tank, which was seen
sitting with its back end on fire. The American crewmembers could be
seen getting out of the tank unharmed, according to the witnesses. When
the correspondent arrived on the scene, he found US troops had
surrounded the whole area. The correspondent noticed that window glass
in the homes near the scene of the attack had been shattered,
presumably from the force of the explosion.
Al-Fallujah.
Resistance bombards US camp in eastern al-Fallujah Wednesday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 2:45pm Mecca time Wednesday afernoon,
Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces on Wednesday
morning had fired four rockets and three mortar rounds at the military
camp that the Americans set up in the former as-Su’dud Primary School
in eastern al-Fallujah.
The al-Fallujah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported
residents of the area around the former school as saying that the
rockets and shells blasted into the school building. One witness said
he could hear the cries of the American soldiers inside during the
bombardment.
When the correspondent arrived on the scene in the area of the
camp, clouds of thick smoke were billowing up from inside the occupied
facility but no further details on the nature or extent of casualties
were available.
Ar-Ramadi.
Prominent religious leader in ar-Ramadi gunned down after sunset prayers in mysterious attack.
In a dispatch posted at 5:35pm Mecca time Wednesday evening,
Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier unknown armed men
had assassinated a religious leader as he came out of a mosque in the
middle of ar-Ramadi following sunset prayers.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported worshippers who
witnessed the attack as saying that armed men driving a Daewoo car and
equipped with light arms attacked Shaykh Hamid 'Ammash as he came out
of the al-Bura’ Mosque where he was the Imam, following sunset prayers.
He was struck by six bullets in his head, chest, and back and died
instantly. Shaykh Hamid 'Ammash was also a prominent Sufi Shaykh in
ar-Ramadi.
The correspondent reported that he had been unable to obtain any
information on what might have been the reason for the attack or who
might have been responsible.
Abu Ghurayb.
Resistance bomb blasts Iraqi puppet troops in Abu Ghurayb Wednesday morning.
An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by an Iraqi puppet army patrol in
Abu Ghurayb, some 30km west of Baghdad, at 10am local time Wednesday
morning.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the
Iraqi puppet police as saying that the explosion destroyed one Nissan
military vehicle and killed four puppet troops and wounded three more
of them.
After the attack, the Iraqi puppet soldiers opened fire
indiscriminately around the area, killing two local civilians and
inflicting moderately severe wounds on a third, according to a source
in Abu Ghurayb Hospital.
Baghdad.
Resistance fighters ambush US and Iraqi puppet army troops in al-'Amiriyah Wednesday morning.
In a bulletin posted at 9:20am Mecca time Wednesday morning,
Mafkarat al-Islam reported that at that moment fierce fighting was
underway between Iraqi Resistance forces and US and Iraqi puppet army
troops near the building where the Iraqi General Staff had its
headquarters in the al-'Amiriyah district of western Baghdad.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the fighting
had been under way for fifteen minutes and that a Humvee could be seen
engulfed in flames as a result fo the combat.
Four masked Resistance fighters had been standing at the crossroads
earlier warning people against taking the road, were, they explained,
explosives had been planted in preparation for an ambush on occupation
forces.
Later, in a dispatch posted at 4pm Mecca time Wednesday afternoon,
Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Captain Jawad Kazim of the puppet
"Interior Ministry Shock Troop" police had said that the morning’s
battle had left three American military vehicles virtually totally
destroyed. Captain Kazim said that nine US troops had been killed or
wounded and that a puppet police vehicle had also been destroyed in the
morning battle.
In an exclusive interview with the correspondent for Mafkarat
al-Islam Captain Kazim said that the US Marine forces were able to
seize two vehicles belonging to the Resistance fighters after they had
failed to get away in the cars and left them behind. The Captain made
no mention of casualties suffered by the Resistance fighters.
At the time of reporting late Wednesday afternoon, the main road
leading to the Agricultural College of Baghdad University was still
closed as a result of the battle. The Americans had already driven off
drivers and owners of a bus stop for students that was located near the
scene of the engagement.
Iraqi President Saddam Hussein tells "court" in Baghdad that US
captors "beat and tortured him on every part of his body during
interrogation.
Iraqi President Saddam Hussein told the US-assembled "court" in
Baghdad on Wednesday that he had been beaten and tortured on every part
of his body while under interrogation by US captors, in the shade of
what they call "American democracy.’
Al-Jazeera satellite TV reported that during the Wednesday session
of the "trial" being put on by the American occupation and its puppet
regime, President Saddam Hussein denounced the American imposed
"constitution" under which the "trial" and recent "elections" had been
held. The President referred to the document as being drafted by "an
American counselor" in reference to Noah Feldman, the New York
University Law Professor who wrote the "Iraqi constitution" for the US
State Department.
US forces arrest Iraqi puppet "Interior Minister."
Demonstrating once again who really rules in occupied Iraq, despite
all the "election" theatricals, US troops arrested Bayan Jabr Sulagh,
the Iraqi puppet regime’s "Minister of the Interior" who is
concurrently a commander of the pro-American Shi'i sectarian Badr
Brigades, on Wednesday morning.
The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported an exclusive source as
saying that the arrest was in the context of the investigation of
torture, which is widely practiced by the "Interior Ministry" and other
regime forces. Recently secret prisons operated by the puppet "Interior
Ministry" were raided and closed down in al-Jadiriyah and other
districts of Baghdad. The arrest took place one day after US ambassador
Zalmay Khalilzad verbally attacked Sulagh, accusing him of sectarianism
and crimes.
The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent attempted to obtain an official
statement about the arrest from a puppet "Interior Ministry" officer
but was unable to do so, describing the situation in the "Ministry" as
chaotic after news of Sulagh’s arrest.
Later, in a report posted at 2:30pm Mecca time Wednesday afternoon,
the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported a lieutenant colonel in
the puppet "Interior Ministry" in Baghdad, who declined to reveal his
name, as saying that Sulagh was arrested for questioning in connection
with information that the US forces had of the "Minister’s" direct
involvement in incidents of torture of Sunni Iraqis.
The lieutenant colonel said that Sulagh was led away together with
four of his aides to Saddam International Airport which the Americans
have turned into one of their largest bases in Iraq. The officer told
Mafkarat al-Islam that Sulagh was arrested after refusing a summons
sent to him by the US ambassador, the actual authority in occupied
Iraq, Zalmay Khalilzad.
Quds Press reported that the order for the arrest of Sulagh had
come from American Vice President Dick Cheney, who paid a surprise
visit to Baghdad on Sunday, 18 December.
Quds Press quoted "informed sources in the 'Green Zone’" as saying
that special US military detachment had raided the puppet "Minister’s"
office in the "Green Zone" on 14 December, the day before the
US-sponsored "elections." At that time, the sources said, US troops
interrogated Sulagh in connection with the secret prison and torture
scandal, after his personal involvement had been established. At the
time of the elections, however, Sulagh publicly denied such reports.
Earlier it had been announced that the puppet "Iraqi Interior
Ministry" had shut down its department assigned to take complaints from
citizens and had replaced it with a "Deparment of Human Rights" whose
job it would be to follow cases related to the puppet ministry’s prison
camp system. Quds Press reported that Brigadier General Ra'd Muhammad,
the "Director" of the Human Rights Department, told the media that he
had already received 50 complaints regarding violations of human rights
by members of the "Interior Ministry" armed detachments. Muhammad said
all the cases were under investigation.
Salah ad-Din Province.
Ad-Dulu'iayh.
American troops destroy house of Iraqi in ad-Dulu'iyah Tuesday afternoon.
US occupation forces destroyed the home of 'Adnan Kawwan al-Jabburi
located near ad-Dulu'iyah, north of Baghdad on Tuesday afternoon.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the
Iraqi puppet army as saying that the US forces planted explosives
around the base of the house and blew it completely apart. The source
gave no reason for the American destruction of the Iraqi’s house. Local
residents of the area told the correspondent, however, that the house
was vacant at the time but had been used by the Americans as one of
their local headquarters earlier.
Local residents believe that the Americans destroyed the house
because they thought that Resistance fighters were now using the
building as a launch pad for rockets aimed at the US base in
ad-Dulu'iyah and Yathrib since it is in their vicinity.
Additionally, Mafkarat al-Islam noted that recently the US
occupation forces had begun to follow the practice of the Zionist
occupation troops in Palestine, blowing up and bulldozing houses of
local residents as a form of punishment for supporting the Resistance.
The Americans had employed this tactic in ar-Ramadi and Hit in al-Anbar
Province.
Babil Province.
Al-Hillah.
Resistance bomb leaves Polish occupation soldier dead in al-Hillah.
In a dispatch posted at 2:50pm Mecca time Wednesday afternoon,
Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier, an Iraqi
Resistance bomb had exploded by a vehicle belonging to the Polish
occupation forces in the middle of the city of al-Hillah, south of
Baghdad.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the
local puppet "governing council" as saying that the attack disabled a
Jeep and killed one Polish soldier and wounded a second. The
correspondent, for his part, reported that the attack took place in the
al-Jabawiyin neighborhood in the middle of al-Hillah.
At-Ta’mim Province.
Al-Hawijah.
Resistance bombing reportedly kills five US troops near al-Hawijah at dawn Wednesday.
An Iraqi Resistance bomb blasted a US supply convoy near al-Hawijah
southwest of Kirkuk in northern Iraq at 5am local time Wednesday
morning.
The Kirkuk correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported Major Hasan
Muhammad al-'Ubaydi of the Iraqi puppet police as saying that a
Resistance bomb had exploded by an American supply convoy near
al-Hawijah, destroying one of the special escort Humvees accompanying a
convoy of trucks. Major al-'Ubaydi confirmed that five US troops aboard
the Humvee were killed and one of the trucks in the convoy was disabled
when its four tires exploded from the force of the bomb blast, even
though it was some distance from the bomb.
After the attack, US troops closed the main road and side streets
in the area for two hours during which time they evacuated the bodies
of their dead.
Ninwa Province.
Tall 'Afar.
Roadside bomb reportedly kills two US troops in Tall 'Afar Wednesday morning.
An Iraqi Resistance bomb that had been planted by the side of
al-Kamaliyat Street in the middle of the northern Iraqi city of Tall
'Afar blew up by a passing US column at 9am local time Wednesday
morning.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the
puppet "Peace Preservation Forces" as saying that the bomb blasted a US
Humvee, killing two US soldiers and wounding a third, all of whom had
been aboard the vehicle.
