The Purple Ink Revolution

...The amount of coverage TV/radio channels and Satellites that was spent on the Iraqi elections including the daily debates between candidates was beyond hilarious and disappointing. It has been disappointing because spending so much time on it by Arab media (and other international media) means that they legitimized yet another product of the American/British occupiers and killers as well as of the Iranian/Israeli opportunists and assassins. Two days prior to elections, Thousands of forged ballots were seized by the Iraqi police in a tanker entering IRAQ from Iran! Bush's elections are our role-model. Little do Iraqis (Egyptians, Palestinians and others) know that elections in the industrial west have become (and perhaps were created) insignificant to occupy the public and mislead them into believing that there is democracy and fair representation!...

The Purple Ink Revolution

Wafaa' Al-Natheema

December 16, 2005

"This is justice, this is the purple ink revolution," said an Iraqi voter on one of the TV Satellites about the elections.

Since I am not interested in "justice" knowing it has become a cliché, "the purple ink revolution" lingered in my mind..

I began to have flash back and flash front swimming in my thoughts and imagination immediately after waking up this morning, December 16 (05). I envisioned a huge amount of ink being poured on the streets while men (not women) danced and swam in it too. Others jumped and rejoiced with poetry recitation and speeches. I day dreamed women took the purple ink in buckets or large containers home to decorate with it and paint their walls and cars. Men poured it in engines. I imagined infants drinking it from the bottles or sucking it from their mothers' breasts. Why not? Isn't it a purple ink revolution? Then let them revolt the purple way!

The amount of coverage TV/radio channels and Satellites that was spent on the Iraqi elections including the daily debates between candidates was beyond hilarious and disappointing.

Little do Iraqis (Egyptians, Palestinians and others) know that elections in the industrial west have become (and perhaps were created) insignificant to occupy the public and mislead them into believing that there is democracy and fair representation! Indeed there is more representation and democracy in some countries than others, but the bottom line is the same or similar. Since the 20th Century, from the most technologically advanced countries (i.e. the USA) to the least advanced countries, elections have been forged and tampered with and been fully dictated by males in power with lots of money. The difference nowadays is that technology (especially due to the Internet and Satellite) has been behind disclosing the reality of elections around the world! So what is the point of having elections especially under massive killing, robbery, forged ballots, insecurity and occupation? To have a purple ink revolution?
