Just an Accident?
US - Military subdues Losses

...The Website ICasualties.org provides detailed statistics of losses of occupation forces in Iraq. Via fortlaufende surveillance of the total numbers of U.S. soldiers wounded in Iraq - U.S. DoD doesn't give further information - it's possible for the Website at least to count the weekly numbers of Wounded in Action. For the period starting October 19, 2005, ending October 25, the provided number of U.S. troops that in effect of being seriously wounded did not report back for duty within 72h was 40. Friday ICasualties published a short note, adding these were corrected figures. Actually this number increased between the report of Department of Defense (DoD) from October 19 and the report from October 26 by 678 men. October 28 DoD changed the report with no comment so that for the afore said period only 40 U.S. troops werde reported as seriously wounded...

Just an Accident?
US - Military subdues Losses

Iraq News Network

October 31, 2005

Two recent occasions wittness once more, that US-Military announces knowingly only a part of its own losses in order to smoothen down growing pressure of U.S. public, facing 2.016 troops officially announced killed.

The Website ICasualties.org provides detailed statistics of losses of occupation forces in Iraq.

October 28 DoD changed the report with no comment so that for the afore said period only 40 U.S. troops werde reported as seriously wounded.

Thinking of the basic figure of 6 733 seriously wounded troops at October 19, a simple twist in number can be absolutely excluded. The Discrepancy between 40 and 678 wounded soldiers seems immense. The only logical explanation beside the assumption, that figures are being knowingly "improved" and accidently the right figures were published, would be that "678" was only a "default", that wasn't replaced through the right numbers. But a zero as "default" seems mathematically as well as regarding the functions of the probably used calculating application more believable.

The "Iraqi Resistance Report" reported actually frequent heavy attacks and battles. So this high number doesn't look too unrealistic. According to the Report on October 19 the U.S. base at al-Habbaniyah was hit by six mortar grenades, what caused more explosions. At the same day Baghdad airport - a maior U.S. military base -  was attacked with "more than nine rockets", as well as the "Green Zone" inside Baghdad was attacked with four 120mm and later ith two more unknown mortar grenades. U.S. Marines HQ in Tikrit was, still according to Iraqi Resistance Report, attacked for 15 minutes with rockets.

October 20 U.S. positions in the city of Fallujah were attacked with ten 120mm mortar grenades and three Katyusha rockets. Two more U.S. HQ inside the city were hit by four and five grenades. According to IRR, The U.S. camp at kirkuk HQ was hit by eleven grenades at Thursday.

Friday the base al-Warrar near Ramadi was attacked with four Katyusha rockets an a provisorical camp inside Fallujah was attacked with seven mortar grenades. The followinf day base in as-Siniyah was hit bei 120mm mortar grenades.

Sunday, October, 23, U.S. base near the city of ar-Rutbah was attacked with two rockets, of which one hit.

Monday a "concentration of U.S: troops in the Barwanah area in the eastern rim of al-Hadithah" was attacked with five grenades. The night before a battle of an hour between U.S. soldiers and resistance fighters in the southern areas of the city. In the morning three destroyed U.S. military vehicles were seen on trucks. U.S. base inside al-Habaniyah was, according to the Report attacked again with six 120mm grenades. Same day there was an attack on the Palestine Hotel in Baghdad during which a U.S. tank of the type "Bradley" was destroying - without mentions of the U.S. about casualities.

According to Iraqi Resistance Reports U.S. tropps were killed or wounded iIn innumerable more attacks against verhicles, patrols and convois.

Another example shows anew that U.S. military doesn't report all killed soldiers.

Kuwair News Agency (KUNA) reported Thursday last week, relying on eye wittnesses, that at a attack against a convoi in Baqubah of a suicide bomber in a car four Iraqis and three U.S. soldiers were killed. This was reported, too by IRR. In a very short note Associated Press reported three soldiers killed in northern Iraq by a car bomb, too.

DoD reported October, 20 only one casuality, where U.S. soldiers were killed by a bomb. The officers Richard T. Pummil, Andres D. Russoli and Steven W. Szwydek were killed, when a bomb - not a car bomb - exploded near Nasser Wa Salaam, which is a suburd of Fallujah in western Iraq.

Since then neither U.S. soldiers killed by a suicide bomber nor troops killed in Baqubah were reported by U.S. military officials.
