NEW YORK - Former U-S Attorney General Ramsey Clark says Saddam Hussein is isolated and has no idea what is going on in the world.
Clark is now helping the Saddam defense team at his trial in Baghdad.

He says Saddam is sometimes left to go for days without a shower or change of clothes. He has also been kept from taking his Koran to court -- all in an effort, Clark says, to make him angry.

Clark tells N-B-C's "Today" show he feels "lucky" that he's been able to represent accused war criminals such as Saddam and Slobodan Milosevic (sloh-BOH'-dahn mee-LOH'-shuh-vich).

Clark says he's dedicated his life after public service to human rights overseas and that is basically what he is doing. He calls the trial enormously important and one where the possibility of a "historic truth" can be found through a legal process -- provided it's fair.
